100 Year Old Home Destroyed by Fire in Vigo Community

Piedmont firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire in the Vigo community taking place during the early morning hours of Monday.

Firefighters arrived at the location in the 1100 block of Philadelphia Church Road, just after 5:30, where they were encountered a home already fully engulfed in flames.

Piedmont firefighters immediately attacked the blaze, while the Spring Garden Department was contacted in hopes of bringing a tanker to the scene; unfortunately the structure which was believed to be nearly 100 years old, was a complete loss.

According to Fire Chief Mike Ledbetter two people were living in the house however no one was home when the fire occurred.

The cause of that blaze has yet to be determined.
