18 Wheeler Overturns North Of Cedar Bluff, Shuts Down Highway 9 / UPDATED

An 18 wheeler hauling particle board overturned just before 9:30 Sunday on Alabama Highway 9 north of Cedar Bluff near the Country Store.

Firefighters had to reroute traffic from Highway 9 down Highway 35 and from Highway 9 down Highway County Road 92.

Cedar Bluff Police and Firefighters, the Gaylesville Fire Department, Cherokee EMS and Alabama State Troopers all responded to the scene – Highway 9 was shut down for an extended period as crews worked to clear the roadway and remove the truck.

A large amount of diesel fuel was spilled onto the highway and had to be cleaned up as well, which is mainly what prompted the highway to be shut down for such an extended period.

The driver, listed on the accident report as Sydrick Brown of Dayton, Ohio – was uninjured in the mishap.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
