FFA Fundraiser Set For Saturday, August 10th – Silver King Corn For Sale

IMG_0969Ricky Ray and Casey Young were in the WEIS Radio studios Monday morning – to let everyone know that the annual Centre FFA Corn Sale is this Saturday (August 10th).

This is the second year that the fundraiser for the Centre FFA and Centre Alumni has taken place and this year’s crop looks to be even better than last year’s.

Students will be gathering Silver King corn and selling it at a price of a dozen ears for only $3.00 and the price does include delivery to your home or workplace; last year they sold more than 500 dozen, and they sold it fast – with the entire stock being gone in under two hours.

photo 3You can pre-order by calling AG teacher James Paul Bailey at (256) 484-7474, or simply stop by the sale site this Saturday morning at Mary Ruth Ray’s Greenhouse – located on County Road 22 approximately three miles east of Centre – simply look for the signs.  Get there early – sale starts at 9:00am.

All the proceeds will go toward helping the FFA students through helping offset expenses for the trips associated with their field of study, for FFA dues, and other things needed for their program throughout the year.

Bear in mind, this sale is made possible through the efforts of those students in the FFA program, with help from various members of the community, who donated the use of necessary equipment needed in the process.  FFA students grow the crop, harvest the corn, and then make deliveries to those who purchase the product of their hard work.
