20 Year Old Murder Case May Be Revisited After Arrest

A key witness in a 20 year old murder case has been arrested on child molestation charges after a complaint was filed by a Chattooga County child social services worker.

Hugh Lonnie Breazeale, age 50 of Rossville – was arrested by a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office Detective on April 25th, and charged with four counts of child molestation and with one count of sexual battery.

Last year the Lookout Mountain District Attorneys Office had dropped charges against a suspect in a murder case dating back to 1992, because they thought Breazeale had died; the murder case was in connection with the death of Breazeales 15 day old son – who had died as a result of skull fractures; the suspect was reportedly a friend of Breazeale’s – however the charges were dropped in March of last year (2012) due to “lack of credible evidence”.

Lookout Mountain District Attorney Herbert “Buzz” Franklin – said he was surprised to find that Breazeale was in fact still alive and his office is now investigating to learn how they received the improper information.

He said the recent arrest will hopefully allow his office to take a second look at the murder case.
