2014 Cherokee County Agricultural Fair

The 2nd Annual Cherokee County Agricultural Fair was held over the weekend at the Fairgrounds on the campus Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre.
Fairgoers enjoyed picture perfect weather for the event which included various exhibits and vendors, competitions, beauty pageants, music, livestock, food, a petting zoo and even camel rides.

There was however one downside to this year’s fair, Daphne Rogers, Fair Organizer told WEIS Radio News that the company, C&M Midways, which was to provide the midway and rides pulled out at the last minute – so there were no rides at this year’s event.

That didn’t stop spectators from enjoying all the amenities including a concert by The Brooke Danielle Band as well as a spectacular fireworks display to top of the weekend.

The fairgrounds included the properties of Gadsden State Community College – Cherokee Campus, City of Centre Sports Complex, and Cherokee County Health Care Authority.

It was made possible by cooperative effort among county FFA chapters, FFA Alumni Organizations, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, Gadsden State Community College, the City of Centre, the Cherokee County Health Care Authority, and numerous other interested members of the community who have donated their time, goods, services and money.

Officials hope this will be an annual tradition that will get local students interested in careers in agriculture right here in Cherokee County – all proceeds from the event is going to schools across the Cherokee County.
