The Cherokee County Sports Hall of Fame celebrated their 10th Anniversary on Saturday evening by inducting the Class of 2014.

Jon Holder, from TV 24 of Oxford, served as the emcee.

V.L. Crane was a multi-sport star at Gaylesville graduating in 1967.  Crane was presented by former teammate Richard Chesnut.

Sand Rock athletic director and head football coach Russell Jacoway became the first active coach to join the Hall of Fame.   Jacoway’s daughters, Christina Richardson and Amy Self, served as the presenters for their father.

Cedar Bluff’s Doug Palmer was presented by his high school coach Jerry Benefield.

Robert Thornton played at Cherokee County High School during the 1950’s and then at the University of Alabama where he played for the legendary Bear Bryant.  Thornton was introduced by trainer from University of Alabama during his playing days, Bert Jones.

Ronnie Whorton, also from Cherokee County High School, was a multi-sport athlete excelling in football, basketball and baseball.   Whorton was presented by his high school coaches Bobby Joe Johnson, Bobby Beckett and Bill Hooper.

The evening concluded with a video tribute to the 10th anniversary class.
