2016 Cherokee County Christmas Parade

This year’s Cherokee County Christmas Parade proved to once again be one of the most popular holiday traditions putting a smile on faces and officially kicking of the holiday season of kids from 1 to 92 (or thereabouts) in downtown Centre Saturday.

This year’s Parade featured more than 80 entries from area businesses, schools, community organizations, civic clubs, and church groups. The parade was led by Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver and his wife Ginny serving as this year’s Grand Marshall.

The parade also featured antique cars, motorcycles, horses and various public safety vehicles.…..and of course Santa Claus made an appearance, riding atop the City of Centre’s Ladder 9 Truck.

This year’s Float winners were; in the business category, What A Dance Studio took the top spot, with McDonalds finishing second .

In the school division; the Cherokee County Career & Tech Center was first place and Gaylesville School Trojanettes second and the Centre FFA third. In the nonprofit division, the Cherokee County Youth Football Program was first place and the Cherokee County Education & Training Center was second and the B & C Team Cherokee County Youth Cheerleaders placed third.

Each year the Cherokee County Christmas Parade is sponsored by The Spirit if Cherokee and The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce.
