2017 Weiss Lake Crappie Rodeo Begins February 15th

On Tuesday – Weiss Lake Improvement Association President Mark Collins – along with Tim and Lane Pentecost, caught and tagged more than 50 crappie for the 2017 Crappie Rodeo.

There will be more than 1,000 tagged crappie released in Weiss Lake for that annual event, which will start February 15th and continue through April 29th.

Tagged crappie this year will be worth anywhere from $50 all the way up to $10,000.

The color of those $50 to $1,000 tags will be florescent orange – so, if you catch one of these fish prior to February 15th, please release it.

The color of the $10,000 tags will be released at a later date.

Make sure you get your 2017 Crappie Rodeo badge before fishing after February 15th.

The badge is just $10 and will last the entire Crappie Rodeo and it includes your Weiss Lake Improvement Association membership for 2017.

Badges will be available at most marinas and retailers around Weiss Lake by February 1st.

Weiss Lake Improvement Association meetings are open to the public and they are held the third Monday of every month, at 5:30pm, in the Cherokee County Administration Building’s Conference Room (Cedar Bluff Road in Centre).
