Third Annual Ascend Weekend at Cherokee Rock Village

In appreciation to those that patronize Cherokee Rock Village the Cherokee County Parks & and Recreation Board is holding their 3rd Annual “Ascend Weekend”, and that Open House type event features an ADMISSION FREE weekend to the park (Friday Saturday and Sunday April 21st – 23rd) with the only exception being camping.  In addition to the natural beauty of Cherokee Rock Village, the trails and the campsites, that event will feature an array of special activities to enjoy.

Those wishing to volunteer for park cleanup will need to be at the park pavilion Saturday at 9:00am to sign in.  Activities that day will include the Southeast Climbers Coalition heading up the trail and maintenance segment, along with graffiti removal teams – there will also be an introduction to climbing class.  REI, based out of Atlanta, will be providing two segments on in depth anchor building; and Cherokee County 4-H will be hosting the Junior Naturalist program.   Classes are absolutely FREE and no previous experience is necessary.  Cherokee Rock Village also features playground equipment picnic areas and more making it the perfect family destination.

The WEIS Radio Road Crew will be broadcasting live from 9:00 – 11:00am on Saturday, and everyone is invited to come join the festivities at Cherokee Rock Village.  Cherokee Rock Village is located at 2000 County Road 70 in Leesburg, for more information call (256) 927-7275.
