According to Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship Centre PD Narcotics Officers conducted a joint undercover operation with both the Leesburg and Cedar Bluff police departments that landed two females from Ft Payne in hot water.

The pair had traveled to Cherokee County, to meet up with someone whom they believed to a “friend”, but was in fact, an undercover officer.  They unknowingly sold the officer a large quantity of prescription pills and after that deal was conducted, both suspects were quickly taken down by assisting officers and taken into custody.

April Goforth, age 29, and 41 year old Kimberly Kerney were each charged with two counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance.

Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship wishes to express his gratitude to both of the assisting agencies for their cooperation, and willingness to work together, in making their respective communities a safer place to live.

If anyone has any information concerning illegal activities you can make an anonymous call to the Centre Police Department tip line (256) 927-5249.
