Additional information has now been released regarding the two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of one person and injured three others in DeKalb County on Sunday (May 22nd).

According to the now-completed accident report, 89 year old Maria Urena, of Yonkers, New York was fatally injured in that accident, which occurred around 9:00 that morning roughly three miles north of Ft Payne; she was a passenger in a 2002 Hyundai which collided with a 2014 Kia before leaving the roadway and striking a tree.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other people in that car including the driver, identified as 69 year Estebon Rodriquez of Springfield, Massachusetts, were injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The driver of the other car escaped injury.
