Authorities have released the name of the woman killed in a single vehicle wreck on Fosters Mill Road Wednesday.
Floyd County Coroner Barry Henderson says 57-year old Jo Ann Reed died from severe head trauma.
Reed was a passenger in a Chevy Impala driven by her son, 29-year old Robert Jefferson Reed Jr. of Dawson, Alabama.
Floyd County Police say the car traveled down an embankment, rolled and came to rest in a creek.
According to a report at the Floyd County Jail, Mr. Reed, who survived the accident, admitted to taking prescription medication which may have hampered his ability to operate a motor vehicle.
He was arrested and charged with 1st degree homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence of drugs, driving without a license and failure to maintain a single lane.
