The Alabama Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) softball tournament will take place at the Athens Sportsplex beginning today (Friday, July 11th).

The Centre girls 8 and under team must battle through an eleven team double elimination bracket to claim the state title. Centre will take the field at 9 p.m. against the winner of the Florence/Arab game.

The 10 and under girls tournament also begins on Friday.  However, Centre will not see action until Saturday morning at 9 a.m. when they square off against either Boaz or Florence.  A total of ten teams comprise the 10 and under tournament field.

Six teams are in contention for the 12 and under state title.  Centre opens on Saturday at 9 a.m. against the winner of the Lincoln vs. Jasper contest.

Meanwhile, in the Dixie boys AAA North sub-state tournament at Priceville the Cherokee Amerian team defeated Oxford Gold 15-8 on Thursday.   Today, Cherokee American will meet Central from District 11.
