Alabama State Troopers Investigated Six Traffic Deaths Over Thanksgiving Holiday Travel Period

Alabama State Trooper 1During the 2014 Thanksgiving holiday travel period, Alabama State Troopers investigated six traffic fatalities on the state’s roadways.

Thanksgiving weekend is traditionally one of the most heavily traveled periods of the year.

The five deadly crashes occurred in Madison, Dallas, Autauga, Greene and Macon counties.

Based on the preliminary investigations, two of those killed were riding an ATV and were ejected; of the four other individuals killed, only two were using seat belts at the time of the crashes.

The 2013 Thanksgiving period was 12 hours shorter than this year’s 114-hour initiative.

During 2013, Alabama State Troopers investigated 11 traffic fatalities, with seven of the 11 individuals killed found not to be using seat belts.
