Alabama State Troopers Work Two Fatal Accidents over the Weekend

Alabama State Troopers worked two separate fatal auto accidents over the weekend in Jefferson County.

A 23 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene, after being hit by two different vehicles while he was walking in the roadway on I-22, just after 11:00pm.  The victim was identified by the coroner as Chapley Loyd Jones of Dora.  The incident took place near Snowville-Brent Road.

According to reports another person was walking with Jones but apparently was not hurt. 

Authorities have released the name of a 73 year old woman who died as the result of a crash occurring Saturday night in eastern Jefferson County; the victim was listed as Ronda Billbro Early – a resident of Mulga.

Jefferson County sheriff’s Office Deputies responded at 8:29pm to a 9-1-1 report of a three-vehicle wreck on Pinson Valley Parkway near the intersection of Meadow Craft Road.  Authorities said Early was driving southbound on Pinson Valley Parkway near Meadow Craft Road when her vehicle was struck in the rear by another vehicle.  Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Early was transported to UAB Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 9:16pm.  One other person was hospitalized with minor injuries, and a third person was unharmed.

Deputy Chief David Agee said that one of the drivers left the scene, and has yet to be found. That incident is currently being investigated by the members of the Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.
