Albertville Man Arrested In Connection To A Burglary In Etowah County

An Albertville man has been arrested in connection to a burglary, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

Investigator Adam Chapman said that 24 year old Benjamin Lane Emmons of Albertville, was arrested and charged with one count of third degree burglary, count of third degree theft of property, one count of first degree receiving stolen property and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, all are felonies.

Emmons allegedly broke into a building, located on Shady Grove Road, and stole miscellaneous items and tools.  The victim gave Deputies Chris Smith and Gilbert Lucero a vehicle description and said that Emmons could be a suspect.

Deputy Lucero located a vehicle, matching the description, in the area of the theft and attempted to stop it.  However, Emmons failed to stop, took off at a high rate of speed, ran two vehicles off of the roadway before crashing the vehicle.  He then fled the vehicle on foot.

A 9-1-1 call was received, shortly after, stating a man ran through their back yard.  Deputies Chris Smith and Wesley Smith found Emmons hiding in a creek bed nearby.  He was taken into custody without further incident.

All of the stolen property was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.  Emmons also faces several drug charges with the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit.  The vehicle he was driving also returned as stolen out of Albertville.

Emmons is currently being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center.
