Anniston Woman Now Facing Wrongful Death Suit

A wrongful death suit has been brought against two individuals that stand accused of being involved the shooting death of an Anniston man some two years ago.

That suit, brought by the estate of Casey Payne names Pamela Deanne Smith and Allyn Troy Smith, and “anyone else who may have been involved in the May 26th, 2014 shooting death of Payne.”  That civil suit was filed in Calhoun County Circuit Court earlier this week.

That victim died from a gunshot wound to the chest, suffered at a home in the 2200 block of Parkwood Drive.

Pamela Smith was arrested the following day, with Troy Smith being charged almost a year later.

The pair are scheduled to go on trial sometime in July (2016).

The civil suit seeks compensatory and punitive damages.
