Anniston Police continue to investigate a Monday afternoon shooting incident that sent a 16 year boy to Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.
According to reports – at around 4:30 that afternoon several shots were fired in the area of Jewell and East 18th Streets, where the teenager was apparently struck more than once in the chest area.
Anniston Police Lieutenant Jay Whisenant told the Anniston Star that the young man was treated and released, however no additional information regarding his condition has yet been released; It still remains unclear if the 16 year old was the target, or if he was simply an innocent bystander – other bullets struck a home, a storage shed and a vehicle.
The investigation into the matter is on-going.
