An Anniston woman has been jailed on a murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of 38 year old Casey Anthony Payne on Memorial Day.
Police responded to a report of shots fired and quickly arrived at the home in the 2200 block of Parkwood Drive, to find the victim dead from a shotgun blast to the chest.
Investigators interviewed witnesses at the scene and collected forensic evidence with 46 year old Pam DeAnn Smith being arrested and charged with murder in connection with the case; officers said Payne, who did not reside at the location, was apparently involved in a relationship with the homeowner’s daughter.
Anniston Police say no additional information is being released at this time.
