Arizona State Kicker Zane Gonzalez Sets New NCAA Record

iStock/Thinkstock(TEMPE, Ariz.) — Arizona State Sun Devils kicker Zane Gonzalez kicked his 89th career field goal, setting an NCAA-record, in the team’s 23-20 win over the UCLA Bruins on Saturday.

The Texas native converted three field goals in the win and passed former Florida State kicker Dustin Hopkins for the most converted career field goals. Hopkins had 88 while playing for Florida State from 2009-12.

Arizona State and UCLA play in the PAC-12 conference. Gonzalez broke the conference record for field goals the week prior, previously held by former UCLA kicker Kai Forbath (85).

Gonzalez is 89 for 111 attempting field goals in his career (80.2 percent).
