As we first reported last week, there are plans to renovate the old Armory Building on highway 9, transforming it into the Centre Community Center.
The funds for the upgrade would be from a $50,000 grant from the USDA and a USDA loan in the amount of $350,000.
That would pay for the repairs to the roof and to bring the restrooms up to standard, making them ADA compliant.
The decision was made to also include adding heat and air-conditioning for a main portion of the building.
Mayor Tony Wilkie says improvements to the building are long overdue.
Mayor Wilkie said the plans also include offices which could house the Police Department as they are currently out of available space at their current location on Main Street.
