According to the website al.com, an Attalla man was fatally injured when his car was struck by a train Tuesday night.
Etowah County Deputy Coroner Michael Head said that the incident occurred just after 10:00pm when the man’s vehicle stalled out as he was crossing the tracks in the 200 block of 13th Avenue Northwest in Attalla.
The driver reportedly got out of the car and attempted to flag down the on-coming train in an effort to avoid a collision, however the train collided with the vehicle – which in turn struck the victim, catapulting his body some 20 feet from the tracks.
The individual was pronounced dead on arrival at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
