An Attalla man has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars – after changing his plea, from one of not guilty, to guilty – just before his trial was scheduled to begin on Wednesday morning.
43 year old Allen Whitmore was facing charges from an incident occurring in September, during which he forced his way into a home in Attalla, assaulted a woman inside – and then left with her purse, jewelry and coin collection.
The 20 year sentence was handed down immediately following the guilty plea – and according to the terms of the plea, Whitmore waived any right to appeal his conviction.
