Attorney General Announces Capital Murder Indictment

Attorney General Luther Strange has announced the arrest of an Ohatchee man on capital murder charges related to the 2009 shooting death of Donald Cameron, also of Ohatchee.

32 year old Michael William Kiser was placed under arrest May 18th (2013), by Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Deputies.

At an arraignment on May 20th in Calhoun County Circuit Court, Kiser pleaded not guilty.

Attorney General Strange’s Office presented evidence to a Calhoun County Grand Jury, resulting in Kiser’s indictment on May 10th.

Specifically, the indictment charges that Kiser intentionally caused the death of Donald Cameron by shooting him with a firearm and that Kiser was unlawfully in Cameron’s home with the intent to commit a theft or felony crime.

No additional information about the investigation or about Kiser’s alleged crime – other than that stated in the indictment* – is being released at this time.

If convicted, Kiser faces the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole.

*An indictment is merely an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent
