The official verdict is in – three year old Ella Camp of Rome was murdered.
Floyd County Coroner Barry Henderson stated that Camp died as the result of blunt force trauma to her head and body. The autopsy was conducted because of the circumstances surrounding the child’s death, which occurred September 17th of last year (2013).
21 year old David Zachery Gresham, described as the “boyfriend” of Ella’s mother – has already been indicted by a Floyd County Grand Jury on two counts of murder and one count each of first degree child cruelty, aggravated battery and aggravated assault.
The indictment stated that Gresham had caused the trauma to three year old Ella which led to her death.
No trial date has yet been set for Gresham.
Ella’s mother – Kayla Leann Medckie – has been charged with second degree child cruelty in the case with reports stating that she was criminally negligent when she placed Ella under Gresham’s supervision.
