Baseball Season Comes to an End For Cherokee County High School Team

Baseball 1 10Cherokee County High School Baseball out slugs the Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles in 8-6 defeat in Game 2 of Series

Cherokee County High School Baseball won the hit battle 9-5 on Monday, but couldn’t push enough runs across to get the win, instead losing 8-6 in seven innings to the Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles at Jacksonville High School Baseball Field.

Jaren Lockridge led Cherokee County High School Baseball’s offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

Christian Stinson looked sharp on the rubber. The Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles managed just one hit off of the Cherokee County High School Baseball’s pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out seven during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Carter recorded the win for the Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles. He tossed one inning of shutout ball. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Riley Miller ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked three and struck out seven.

The Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles tacked on another three runs in the fourth. The inning looked promising, as Lackey doubled, scoring Frankum to kick things off.

The Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles increased their lead with two runs in the fifth. A clutch error scored Shook to open the scoring in the frame.

One run in the bottom of the sixth helped Cherokee County High School Baseball close its deficit to 8-2. An error set off Cherokee County High School Baseball rally. But, Thurmond got Colin Edwards to to end the inning.

After pushing across four runs in the bottom of the seventh, Cherokee County High School Baseball faced just a 8-6 deficit. An RBI single by Colin Brewer, a passed ball, an RBI single by Drew Vance, and a groundout by Drew Hilltriggered Cherokee County High School Baseball’s comeback. Carter got the last out, as Cherokee County High School Baseball’s Colin Edwards flew out.

Cherokee County High School Baseball fell 9-8 to the Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles in seven innings on Saturday at Jacksonville High School Baseball Field despite racking up eight hits and eight runs.

Colin Brewer racked up five RBIs on four hits for Cherokee County High School Baseball. He singled in the first, third, and fourth innings and doubled in the fifth inning.

Carter got the win for the Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles. He allowed three runs over three innings. Carter struck out five, walked four and gave up two hits.

The Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles were sparked by Glass and Lackey, who teamed up for five hits and seven RBIs.

Preston Grimes was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.

The top of the first saw Cherokee County High School Baseball take an early lead, 2-0. After Jaren Lockridge singled, Colin Brewer singled, plating Kyle Burgess and Colin Edwards.

The Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles got one-run rallies in the second inning and the seventh. In the second, the Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles scored when Shook was hit by a pitch, bringing home Clark.

The Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles scored four runs of their own in the fourth. The Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles scored on an RBI single by Glass and a three-run double by Lackey.

The lead stayed with the Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles after the seventh, when they scored one run on two singles.
