Bekaert Plant to Resume Operations in December

bekeartfire5Bekaert is looking to restore the operations at their production plant in Rome – as quickly as possible.

The plant has been closed since a fire caused structural damage to part of the site earlier in the month. An inspection has revealed that the roof, walls and equipment in those affected areas will have to be replaced.

A re-start of limited production activities will begin sometime in December.

The company also confirms that it will rebuild and equip the damaged portions of the plant to restore full operations in the coming year – including that implementation of previously announced new investments.

Some personnel will be engaged in clean up and repair operations, while temporary layoffs will apply to some workers as the rebuilding process continues.

Fortunately, everyone at the plant was evacuated on time – and nobody was injured during the blaze.
