A DeKalb County jury has convicted David Paul Edward Wooten, from Blount County, in the 2014 machete slaying of a Ft Payne man; on November 14th of that year the body of Bernie Wayne Clark, also age 45, was found on the couch in his mobile on Gault Avenue. According to court documents, Clark had been “chopped to death” with a machete.
It was determined by a jury that Wooten was indeed responsible for “intentionally causing” Clark’s death.
Circuit Judge Jeremy Taylor has scheduled sentencing for June 27th at 9:00am.
Wooten remains in the DeKalb County Detention Center.
