Body Believed to be That of Missing Woman Found in Overturned Car

Missing - MizeIt appears the body of a missing Anniston woman has been found in a wrecked car – in Cleburne County. 45 year old Margie Mize had been reported missing approximately two weeks ago – her vehicle was found Monday (July 7th) upside down in a ravine along County Road 24 around two miles from the Calhoun County line.

The identity of the body must still be confirmed – however investigators believe it is the missing woman; her dog that was with her at the time she was reported missing was found unhurt inside the vehicle Monday.

Authorities were able to track Mize’s movements through data gathered from her cell phone with her last call being made in the Friendship community.

The vehicle was eventually discovered some thirty feet down an embankment; investigators say she had apparently lost control and veered off the pavement as the road curved to the left on the way back to Oxford, and struck a tree at the bottom of the ravine.

The accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
