Bond Set for Former Police Officer

ChaseBond for former Rainbow City Police Officer David Chase Jenkins has been set at $50,000.

That action was taken Monday by Judge Willis Clay who at the same time denied the motion to dismiss charges in the case.

Judge Willis had first set a cash bond of $25,000 but after hearing from Jenkins’ attorney, he changed it to a $50,000 surety bond.

Jenkins was arrested on a First Degree Sodomy charge in January and has been behind bars since that time. The incident reportedly occurred while Jenkins was off-duty and had taken place with an adult female whom he was acquainted with.

Jenkins resigned from the police department following his arrest.

According to the terms of the Judge Clay’s order, Jenkins must be supervised by Community Corrections, wear an electronic monitor and abide by a curfew; he is forbidden from having any contact with the victim or potential witnesses and have no access to weapons.
