Brad Pitt, Marion Cotillard in Love and War in "Allied"

Ada Houghton/GC Images(LOS ANGELES) — One look at the new trailer for the World War II drama Allied, and one can see why the rumor mill went into overdrive regarding Brad Pitt and his Oscar winning co-star Marion Cotillard — and Pitt’s divorce from Angelina Jolie.

For the record, all sides deny any real-life relationship took place, but the pair sure smolders on screen.

Pitt plays an American intelligence officer who falls hard for a French resistance fighter, in a relationship that’s forged in the high-stakes world of espionage in war-torn Europe.

Amidst the bullets and bombings they marry and start a family — until an emotional bombshell hits: he’s told she’s a Nazi spy, and ordered he must kill her himself. Is it true? Can he do as ordered if it is?

The film was directed by Oscar winning Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis, and opens November 23.
