BREAKING NEWS| Two Charged With Murder In Connection To Missing Etowah County Man

Two individuals have been charged with the murder of 23 year old Wesley Adam Clifton who had been reported missing earlier this week.

A man and woman have been charged with the murder of an Etowah County man whose body was found in a shallow grave Wednesday outside Boaz.

Kenneth Tyler Parker, 25, of Boaz, and Amber Nicole McCoy, 20, of Albertville, were arrested yesterday and charged today with the murder of Wesley Adam Clifton, according to Natalie Barton, director of communications for the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office. Each has a bond of $250,000.

Clifton, 23, had been missing for a week when investigators found his body near a pond adjacent to chicken houses off Black Bottom Road, just beyond the Boaz city limits in Etowah County.

Barton said investigators found the grave about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday after a source provided information that led to a search warrant at a home at 310 Black Bottom Road. Evidence was found inside the house, Barton said, and Parker was taken into custody. McCoy was later arrested at Marshall Medical Center South.

Clifton’s red 1995 Honda Accord was found about six miles away from where his body was discovered, parked in a wooded area near the intersection of Cove Springs Road and Little Cove Road.

Investigators say they are still working to determine the relationship between Clifton and the two people charged, but that they were acquaintances. Authorities did not say how Clifton died, how long he may have been in the grave or give a motive in the case.

An autopsy is expected to be performed today in Huntsville to determine a cause of death.

The Jacksonville State University Center for Applied Forensics assisted in the investigation, and Boaz police assisted in the search.

Clifton’s family had not seen him since he left his Perry Works Road residence last Tuesday. He was at work at Zaxby’s of Boaz last Wednesday, but did not report for work the following two days, which coworkers said was not in his character. He was reported missing Saturday.

Barton said there may be additional charges and suspects to follow.

“My office intends on prosecuting anyone involved in this matter to the fullest extent of the law,” District Attorney Jody Willoughby said at a news conference this morning.
