A single vehicle crash, during the early morning hours of Sunday, has claimed the life of an Ohatchee woman.
In a news release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency it was announced that the 44 year old victim has been identified as Krista Simpson Pitts. She was reportedly traveling on Gilbert’s Ferry Road about five miles south of Glencoe, when the 2011 Chevy Camaro which she was riding in, left the roadway and went into a creek.
Pitts was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the accident report, the car was being driven by 43 year old Anniston resident Juan Nava; the preliminary investigation has revealed that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
That wreck took place at approximately 2:10am.
That accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
