Motorists traveling along Highway 9 between Centre and Cedar Bluff Wednesday afternoon around 4:30, were greeted with a rather strange sight – that being a boat lying in the middle of the roadway.

It appears that a small boat being pulled by a truck became dislodged from the trailer hitch, and caromed into the southbound lane; that’s when a second vehicle slammed into the boat

According to an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report those involved included 77 year old Henry Howard of Pineville, Kentucky, driving a 2007 Ford and 52 year old Chris Crider of Cedar Bluff in a 2014 GMC.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the mishap.

The causeway was reduced to single-lane traffic while crews worked to clear the highway.

Those responding to the scene included the Cedar Bluff Police and Fire Departments – along with Alabama State Troopers.
