Cedar Bluff After School Program in Danger of Closing Down

IMG_0855The Cedar Bluff After School Program is in danger of coming to a permanent close, after the loss of its grant funding.

Laura Brown and Shane McFry of Cedar Bluff School joined Jerry Baker on the WEIS Radio Morning Show Friday, to discuss just how the program works and to promote an upcoming fundraising event.

They have also been providing a four week summer camp for students which included field trips each week.

The program has received grant funding for the past three years, unfortunately they did not receive a renewal this year so the important service that the After School Program provides for parents is in danger of disappearing. Questionnaires sent out to parents revealed that many of those kindergarten through 3rd grade students will be getting off the bus at home alone in the afternoons if the program comes to an end.

In an effort to carry on a fundraising event – in the form of a Fall Festival – will take place at the school Saturday, November 1st from 4:00 – 8:00pm.
