Cedar Bluff Resident is Arrested in Rome on a Long List of Charges

A Cherokee County man, was arrested in northwest Georgia earlier in the week, on multiple charges.

30 year old James Carl Hackett II of Cedar Bluff was pulled over on Martha Berry Boulevard in Rome while riding a motorcycle on Tuesday of this week.

He was stopped for not wearing a helmet and afterwards was found to be in possession of a .22 handgun, reportedly stolen in Polk County; the motorcycle he was driving was reported stolen out of Birmingham.

Inside a pocket officers reportedly found a glass smoking device containing suspected meth and, in a backpack, they discovered marijuana and meth. 

The handgun had been tucked in his waistband.  Hackett was also driving without a license, and without insurance.

Hackett managed to rack up a laundry list of charges including – Possession of Drug Related Objects, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Meth, Possession of Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Theft by Bringing Stolen Property into Another State, Driving without insurance, Driving without a License – and Not Wearing a Helmet.
