Cedar Bluff Fire Department Host Multi-Department Training Course

Area firefighters are undergoing advanced training over the next several days as firefighters with numerous fire departments throughout Cherokee County and the surrounding area are taking part in a two week advanced firefighter course through the Alabama Fire College.

This course is designed to give firefighters the advanced skills needed to be able to provide services more effectively and efficiently to protect the life and property of the citizens of Cherokee County and the surrounding area.

This course is being hosted by the Cedar Bluff Fire Department.

There are firefighters from 9 departments across the area taking part in this course and those fire departments include the McCords, Spring Creek, Spring Garden, Centre, Cedar Bluff, Tuckers Chapel, Mt. Weisner, Cloudland, and Adamsburg.

After completion of this course these firefighters will be certified to the level of Firefighter 2. Some of the topics being taught include, Fire Department Communications, Fire Control, Crash Victim Extrication, Technical Rescue, Fire Origin and Cause Determination, and many more.

Cedar Bluff Fire Chief Shawn Rogers who is an adjunct Fire Service Instructor for the Alabama Fire College wants to extend his thanks and appreciation to the men and women who are participating in the Firefighter 2 course.

Chief Rogers says these firefighters are a testament to the fire service for their dedication and willingness to better themselves so the citizens can receive the fire services they deserve.
