Cedar Bluff Man Facing Long List of Charges Following High Speed Chase

CCSO - Ingram, Damien - 06-19-2013A 21 year old Cherokee County man is behind bars on a long list of charges after leading officers on a high-speed chase Tuesday (June 18th).

According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Narcotics Unit Agents from both Cherokee & DeKalb counties broke up a possible drug deal near Little River National Preserve. 

Agent Will Clark, assigned to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit by the Centre Police Department, along with DeKalb County agents – observed a vehicle turning into a parking lot and attempted to stop him. 

The suspect fled, striking Agent Clark’s vehicle in the process and barreled onto Highway 35 at a high rate of speed with officers in pursuit. 

The suspect turned onto County Road 15 where he bailed out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot into a wooded area, but was quickly apprehended. 

Damian Christopher Ingram of Cedar Bluff was taken into custody, and charged with fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement officers, second degree possession of marijuana and second degree criminal mischief, with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and with conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime.  

Ingram is being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
