UPDATE| Cedar Bluff Man Injured While Cutting A Large Red Oak Tree In Leesburg Listed In Stable Condition

A Cedar Bluff man was airlifted to a trauma center after being injured while he was cutting a large red oak a residence on County Road 7 in Leesburg on Thursday afternoon.

According to family members the man has been identified as Johnny Neyman. Neyman is currently in stable condition at UAB’s Trauma Unit. He was airlifted at around 12:00 on Thursday after being injured while we was cutting down a tree on an upward incline. When the tree went down, the butt bounced up and back down, rolled and landed on Neyman’s hip as he slipped getting out of the way.

Neyman’s son was the only one with him and called 911. Family members told WEIS Radio News that Neyman will have surgery to insert screws in his pelvic area and says he is in good spirits and wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and concerns.

Emergency personnel from Cherokee EMS, the Cherokee County Rescue Squad and the Leesburg Fire Department were called to the scene.
