Cedar Bluff Punches Their Ticket To The Semi Finals With Win Over Wadley

Josh Decker

Only one team in Cedar Bluff’s football history had ever advanced to the Class 1A state semifinals. That came in 2006, and that team finished as state runner-up.

The players on the current Tiger team were just young tykes then, but on Friday night at sixth-ranked Wadley, they added their own chapter to Cedar Bluff’s storied tradition.

Sophomore receiver Isaiha Jones snagged the game-winning 19-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Josh Decker in the corner of the end zone with 4.1 seconds remaining, propelling the fourth-ranked Tigers to a 34-27 victory. It was Jones’ only catch of the game.

WEIS Radio’s Nolen Sanford & Shane McElwee had the call –

Decker provided the final scoring margin with his 2-point conversion run up the middle. He finished the game completing 11-of-23 pass attempts for 122 yards and two touchdowns.

The win will now setup a semi-final matchup between Cedar Bluff (12-1) and eighth-ranked Decatur Heritage (12-1), that game will be played at LD Bruce Field and will be broadcast live on WEIS Radio with the pregame at 6:00 at the kickoff at 7:00.

You can listen to that game live on 100.5 FM, 990 AM, live stream at weisradio.com or on the WEIS Radio App.
