It was a lengthy agenda for the Centre City Council on Tuesday. The council adopted resolutions to reappoint several individuals to key roles, Mary Leigh Tucker as City Clerk, Kirk Blankenship as Police Chief, Robbie Moon as Fire Chief, Al Shumaker as City Attorney and Bill Hawkins as Municipal Judge.
Following nominations from the floor, Councilman Phillip Roberts and Mayor Tony Wilkiw were chosen to represent the city in serving on the DeKalb Cherokee Gas Board. Gary Davis was selected to serve on the CED Mental Health Board to fill the unexpired term of Kandi Garmany
In other business at the recommendation of Billy Mack Garrett Chairman of the Planning Commission, the council approved a request to rezone a portion of property near Oak Hill Drive from M-1 Light Manufacturing to R-1 Single Family Residential, that property is owned by the Cherokee County Humane Society.
The council has also agreed to once again participate in the WEIS Radio Shop at Home Campaign and also approved a once a year Christmas raise for all city employees.
The approval of a $2,825 bill from the Fire Association was tabled until the next meeting in order for Mayor Wilkie to gather some additional information for the council.
The next meeting of the Centre City Council will December 13th at 5:0 p.m. at the Activities Building at Cherokee Health & Rehab where the city will then hold their Christmas Party.
