Centre Man Arrested Following High-Speed Chase

White, JammyA Cherokee County man was arrested following a high-speed chase over the weekend.

That chase began when Floyd County Police were notified that a stolen vehicle, a Kia Rio – was spotted near Cave Spring with two occupants. The driver refused to stop for officers and headed down Highway 411 toward the Alabama line, reportedly reaching speeds of 95 miles an hour.

Law enforcement officials followed the vehicle across the state line – until the driver turned back toward Georgia, then turned off onto County Road 159. Shortly thereafter the driver pulled over and both occupants bailed out, with one of the two managing to elude officers.

According to the Coosa Valley News, the passenger – identified as 32 year old Jammy Trent White of Centre – was taken into custody at the scene and charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Attempting to Elude.

Authorities are still searching for the yet-to-be identified driver of the vehicle, described as being an older white male, standing around five-feet-nine and weighing roughly 175 pounds.

At the time of the incident he was wearing blue jean shorts and no shirt.
