Centre Man Arrested in Chattooga County

A Cherokee County man was recently arrested in Chattooga County, after a call to 9-1-1 reported that a white Chevy Astro Van had been seen weaving and running off the road in the Lyerly area.

As a deputy arrived on the scene, the vehicle pulled into the parking lot at Pine Ridge Outdoor Supply, just north of the Mohawk plant; according to the report the deputy noticed a strong odor of alcohol as he approached the van.

The driver then identified himself as John Hill of Centre.

After failing several field sobriety tests the individual refused to take an Alco Sensor test – citing a “medical condition”.

Hill was placed under arrest, and charged with DUI for alcohol, driving on a suspended license, a violation of the open container law, failure to maintain a single lane and a seatbelt violation.
