Centre Man Charged with Stealing a Boat from the Newberry Crossroads Area

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Investigators recovered a stolen boat, Friday in the Yellow Creek portion of the county.

Sheriff Jeff Shaver said the boat had been reported stolen from a County Road 30 address in the Newberry Crossroads area on May 2nd.

Evidence uncovered by Investigators Michael Green and Brent Snead pointed to 43 year old Centre resident Kyle D. McMichen, being the suspect; with assistance from deputies and the Marine Police Division of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency – law enforcement officials managed to  locate the stolen boat near Yellow Creek Store and at that point McMichen was arrested on charges of – First Degree Theft of Property, Second Degree Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, and the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

McMichen was taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center, where he remains, awaiting setting of bond.
