Centre Middle School Student Gabe Chester Joins WEIS Radio as a “DJ for a Day”

Gabe 2

WEIS Radio was recently joined by Centre Middle School student Gabe Chester – our “DJ for a Day” winner – as he shadowed the entire staff and helped out in every department, acting in turn as an announcer, newscaster, webmaster and more.

Gabe’s first question that morning was “What time do we eat lunch?” – and at that point, we knew he was born to be in radio.

Eleven year old Gabe is a fifth grader who won an “On-Air Radio Experience at WEIS Radio” prize through the annual “Gala at 1920 East Main” fundraiser for Centre Middle School.

Gabe’s favorite sport is basketball, and he plays power forward for Coach Duane Amos – he also enjoys baseball and plays first base for the Dixie Youth Orioles; he also cemented a life long friendship with WEIS Radio’s own Bill Mobbs after declaring his allegiance to Alabama rather than Auburn. Gabe also attends Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Here’s a brief excerpt from the Kim O’Brien Show with Gabe as special guest:

We had a great day with Gabe here at WEIS Radio and we all hope to see him again in the future.
