WEIS Radio listeners heard a new voice on the air Tuesday.

11-year old Makenzie Green made her radio debut after her parents were the high bidders at a silent auction for “on-air radio experience” during the “Gala at 1920 East Main” event in February.

Proceeds from the event went to the “Fund the Field” project at Centre Middle School.

Makenzie’s day included activities ranging from DJ to News Reporter.

Makenzie’s interests include acting.  She has appeared in a number of plays and she says that experience helped with her nerves when she got behind the microphone here at the radio station.

During an interview, Makenzie shared her experiences as a cancer survivor.

She now has her own “Relay for Life” team and helps raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Makenzie is in the 5th Grade at Centre Middle School.  She loves music and movies and her pet turtles.  Her favorite movie is “Pirates of the Caribbean.”  Someday she hopes to be an actress or a teacher.
