Centre Police Make An Arrest In Connection With The Burglary Of Ray’s Saws And Also Recover Two Stolen Vehicles

Inv.LeighaBlakeA series of burglaries and thefts were closed on Wednesday. Centre Police Investigator Leigha Blake had reports of a burglary at Ray’s Saws and two auto thefts from different businesses reported in the past week.

One vehicle was taken from Ray’s Auto Sales in Centre and was recovered by Floyd County authorities. Charles David Blaylock of Centre is currently in Floyd County Detention Center with a hold for the theft of the vehicle in Centre. 

The other vehicle was taken from Complete Cash and was recovered outside of Fort Payne on I-59. 52 year old Joie Gowens is currently incarcerated at Cherokee County Detention Center for Theft of Property 1st and other unrelated charges. 

Chief Kirk Blankenship wanted to extend his thanks to Etowah County Sheriff’s Office for their part in the recovery of stolen items from Ray’s Saws and the arrest of Willie Gidley of Gadsden for Burglary 3rd. Centre PD Investigator Leigha Blake made contact with Etowah Co Sheriff’s Office Wednesday and after following several leads with Etowah County, the arrest was made. 

Chief Blankenship wanted to address the value of having a high quality video surveillance system in your business.
