Centre Police Officer and Four Others Hurt in Two-Vehicle Accident on County Road 71

A total of five people were hurt in a two-vehicle accident in the Ball Play community on Monday afternoon just before 3:00 – on County Road 71.

According to the Alabama State Troopers Post at Jacksonville, three people in a 2002 Dodge van had injuries including the driver, 41 year old Terry Knight of Talladega, and two passengers – 48 year old Venus Knight and a three year old child.

Two people were listed as being injured in the second vehicle – described as a 1998 International which was pulling a hay wagon, and they were identified as 73 year old Charles Wayne Reed, Sr. and 47 year old Charles Reed, Jr.; Charles Wayne Reed is a Centre Police Officer.

Two people were air-lifted following that crash – with Venus Knight being taken to UAB and the three year old child being transported to Children’s Hospital.

No additional information regarding the extent of their injuries has been released – and the wreck remains under investigation.
