Charges Upgraded from Armed Robbery to Murder for Two Rome Teenagers

Murder UpgradeAccording to authorities, the store employee wounded during the armed robbery occurring January 15th at the Melanie Inn convenience store in Summerville, has died.

The clerk, Chiragkumar Patel was reportedly shot once in the abdomen during that robbery at the Hawkins Drive convenience store.

Since that time, Patel had been listed in critical condition at Floyd Medical Center in Rome.

Detective Ty Hutchins, with the Summerville Police Department, was notified that Patel had passed away Sunday afternoon (March 6th) at around 4:00.

The two masked robbers, were later identified as Zaykives Banard McCray, and Dylon Dave Allen, both age 18 and both of Rome.

McCray is listed on Chattooga County arrest reports, as being charged with armed robbery; aggravated assault; with possession of a firearm, or knife during the commission of a crime; wearing a mask, hood or device concealing the identity of the wearer; and now, murder.

Allen, currently being held in the Floyd County Jail, has now also been charged with murder in connection with that case.
