Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Investigators in Cherokee County and Etowah County, recently teamed up to conduct an operation involving multiple checkpoints near the county line.

Those areas include County Roads 3, 6, 7, 24 and 71.

One arrest was made in Cherokee County as a result of that initiative – Jacksonville resident Billy J. Williams, age 32, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  That in addition to one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Several warnings and citations were also issued by deputies of each department.
